About the Item
A whimsical studio art glass bowl or vessel from the "Seafan Series" in an azure blue color by Ann Arbor artist Janet Kelman. Etched signature and dated 2006. The sculpture is made of interlocking leaf patterns which create a surreal floating effect. It gives the illusion of plants found on the ocean floor as they move and sway with the water currents. Per the artist, “I am drawn to water and images of water. It was thrilling for me to learn to scuba dive. My latest work is an exploration of water images and color, applied to simple shapes, rectangles, and boats. The finished fused glass always provides surprises, its constant allure for me.” Throughout her 40-year career, her glass sculptures were sold in galleries across the country.
