A beautiful handcarved, slender Scandinavian Modern sculpture / bowl in teakwood with amazing original patina.
Made by Johnny Mattsson in Sweden, 1950s.
Signed 'JM'.
Great original condition. Some light scratches inside / on the bottom of the bowl.
John (Johnny) Filip Mattsson, born 1906 in the city of Gävle, Sweden. Died in 1970. Mattsson was mostly know for his wooden sculptures / Ölgås, seen in SAS commercials. Parts of his work were shown at Triennale in Milan 1954, Florence 1954 an New York 1955. He is represented in museums such as Nationalmuseum, Stockholm and British Museum, London (bowl & sculpture).
