Large Antique Chinese Export Porcelain Bowl Famille Rose Hand Painted C-1770

About the Item

This exquisite 18th-century Chinese export porcelain bowl was hand-painted during the Qianlong era, circa 1770, using colored enamels in the Famille Rose palette. Pink peonies in full bloom are presented in elegant flower baskets, accompanied by turquoise and green leaves. Smaller flowers are painted in yellow, white, and outlined in gilt and iron red. The painting is rich in detail, and the colors are soft and harmonious. The bowl has a refined silhouette with a flaring rim and rests on a traditional short foot. The inside rim features a continuous band of flowers and scrolling vines, adding to the overall decorative appeal. This combination of floral baskets and vibrant color is a well-known motif in 18th-century Chinese porcelain. A related example is illustrated on page 205 of Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam by C. J. A. Jörg. Condition: Excellent. There is slight wear to the gilding on the delicate branches just below the top rim, where the bowl would have been handled. Dimensions: 14″ diameter across the top, 6.75″ tall, 7″ diameter across the base Price: $9,800 “well-known motifs include… a flower basket” page 205, “Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam” by C.
