Large Japanese Yakisugi Bowl

$1,650

About the Item

A fantastic large Japanese bowl carved of one piece of pine and with a beautiful Yakisugi, or burned wood, finish. Traditionally, a yakisugi finish is applied to exterior siding of homes in Western Japan and was intended to improve the weather resistance performance, prevent decay, rot, insect infestation, and make the wood more resistant to fire. This bowl has been treated with a similar burned finish and includes a modern steel repair. Perfect for catching your keys, pocket change, or sunglasses in your bedroom, or a great place to drop your mail in your entry.
