Late 19th Century Large Mortar Carved from a Single Piece of Wood

About the Item

This Italian mortar dates from the early 19th century. It was used to mill grain and wheat. The object is carved out of a single piece of wood and has a wonderful age patina. The mortar resembles the foot of an elephant. The wood has splits and carving all-over, all the damage is age-related and by using the object for an extended period of time.
