Large Late 19th Century French Black Marble Mortar and Beechwood Pestle

This large black marble mortar from the nineteenth century is made from a single block of marble and features its original turned pestle made of wood. Once used by a pharmacist to grind herbs for medicinal purposes, it can now serve as a planter, bowl, or vase and is conducive to both indoor and outdoor use.
