Leonard Marty Cobalt blue with Etched Waves Large Art Glass Bowl signed by artist and dated 2000. Studio handcrafted blown art glass in a gorgeous cobalt blue and etched with raws of waves. Large cobalt blue color bowl in Murano glass in the style of Art glass designer Antonio da Ros for Cenedese. Wonderful deep cobalt blue color changing to lighter blue with the reflection of the light. The Leonard Marty signed artist glass piece comes on a lucite acrylic easel presentation stand, could be also used as a decorative art glass bowl, or fruit bowl. Handcrafted hand blown glass with some small small bubbles. Great condition. Dimensions: 16.5 in diameter x 2.75 in. height. About the artist: Leonard Marty Leonard Marty started working hot glass in 1980. He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. There he received instruction from Robert "Bud" Hurlstone. He was the first Fine Art student to graduate from BGSU with a specialization in glass. A work of his is on permanent display in the University's Miletti Alumni building. In the summer of 1984 he received an assistantship to study at The Summervail Workshops for Art and Critical Study at Vail, Colorado. Taking instruction from artists Dan Dailey and Paul Marioni. In recent years educational opportunities have included workshops at The Pilchuck Glass School, The Penland School for the Crafts and the Corning Museum of Glass with sessions from Thermon Statom, Dino Rosin, Steven DeeEdwards, Martin Rosol and most recently Bertil Valien. Marty's greatest impact has been from instructing glass making. Since 1988, Marty has worked for The Toledo Museum of Art in Toledo, Ohio and is one of their Master Instructor in the glassmaking area. During his tenure he has instructed nearly 1700 students in the fundamentals of glassmaking. He created the core curriculum of the Museum's modern glass program and organized workshops with early glass masters Dale Chihuly, Marvin Lipofsky, Joel Philip Myers, and Thermon Statom. While performing his regular duties for TMA, in the year 2000 until its' completion in 2006, Marty was a lead advisor for the Museum's glass studios at the newly constructed and award-winning TMA Glass Pavilion. Marty has participated in numerous shows at the Toledo Museum of Art and has won the prestigious Dominic Labino Award for Excellence in glass. His work has also been invited several times into the International Exhibition of Glass in Kanazawa, Japan. Most recently Marty has completed commissions for: Owens Corning, Owens-Illinois, Promedica Health Group, and the Fifth/Third Bank.
