About the Item
This Longwy Art Deco bowl, handcrafted in France in July 1930, displays the manufactory’s celebrated cloisonné-style enamel work at its peak. The decoration pairs bold stylized daisies in blue, green, and white against a rich red enamel ground, punctuated with vermilion dots and framed by deep cobalt borders. The surface carries Longwy’s distinctive crackle glaze, a hallmark of authenticity and craft.
The underside is fully documented: the gilt Longwy France stamp, impressed “7 30” dating the bowl precisely to July 1930, and model references D.5416 and 3021. This rare combination of markings provides ironclad provenance, reinforcing its desirability for connoisseurs of Longwy ceramics. Condition is excellent, with no damage to the enamel; only minor discoloration appears on the base, not visible when displayed.
Longwy, founded in 1798 in the Lorraine region of France, has remained distinguished for pioneering enamel-on-ceramic techniques that mimic metal cloisonné. The factory became synonymous with Art Deco ceramics, using brightly colored, geometric, and stylized floral motifs, enriching the cultural legacy of French decorative arts
A quintessential example of colorful enamel pottery from the Art Deco era, this piece captures Longwy’s fusion of color, geometry, and botanical stylization.

Charles Catteau Art Deco Pineapple Table Lamp with New Ikat Silk Shade, 1920s
By Boch Freres Keramis, Charles Catteau
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Lovingly handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from an antique Boch Frères Keramis vase (Model 1118, circa 1920–1930) designed by Charles Catteau, this one-of-a-kind table lamp transforms the iconic Art Deco “pineapple” vase. We’ve paired the vase base with a new bespoke hand-pleated lampshade made from hand-woven, hand-dyed Ikat cotton-silk fabric crafted on traditional Uzbek looms. We’ve also added a matching green cord. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way.
This ceramic vase—commonly referred to as the pineapple vase—was produced by Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, Belgium between 1920 and 1930. Designed by Charles Catteau, the vase features a repeating geometric relief pattern molded into its ovoid form and finished with a fine ivory craquelure glaze. Known as Model 1118 in the Boch Frères catalog, it reflects Catteau’s Art Deco vocabulary: bold geometry, stylized natural references, and technical innovation in glazing.
The gathered lampshade...
