About the Item

A stunning Murano art glass bowl from the 1960s, hand-blown at the Luigi Mandruzzato furnace (Molatura Vetri Murano). Crafted in the sommerso technique — developed and perfected in Murano and famously advanced by designer Flavio Poli — this beautifully faceted, hexagonal, diamond-shaped three-tone piece features polished sides and top, showcasing a striking combination of light blue, amber-yellow, and deep cobalt glass layers that capture and reflect light magnificently. A decorative, jewel-like object, it could even serve as an eye-catching bowl for caviar. The bowl remains in very good condition, free from damage; the small spots visible in the photos are tiny bubbles within the glass. Height: 3.25 in Diameter: 5 in Luigi Mandruzzato (born 1934 on Murano) is one of the best-known names in Venetian glass craftsmanship. The Mandruzzato family furnace, founded in 1934, became renowned under his direction for its mastery of vetri molati – faceted, hand-cut glass. From the 1960s onward, the workshop developed its iconic geometric sommerso vases and bowls, admired for their bold colors, clear lines, and crystalline facets. Alongside Seguso Vetri d’Arte with Flavio Poli, Archimede Seguso, and Venini with designers like Scarpa and Bianconi, Mandruzzato’s creations defined the artistic vitality of Murano in the mid-20th century.
