About the Item
Maple Hand Turned Bowl - Tyler & Tara.
Tyler and Tara are our friends in Knoxville Tennessee, they are contemporary wood turners, sourcing wood locally and hand selecting each piece for turning. This bowl is a unique piece made for us, it is exquisitely turned, the bowl wall being only three to four millimetres thick. The sculptural organic form is crafted as the bowl is turned, responding to the natural form of the wood substrate. The ebonised top edge is created by gently burning the bowl with a natural flame and then carefully cleaning the surface with wire wool to remove the surface ash leaving a rich ebonised finish. The last 3 images show all of the bowls by Tyler & Tara purely for visuals. The listing is for the single bowl shown in the other images.
Workshop Report:
Contemporary product hand turned by Tyler and Tara. The bowl is not finished with any sealants such as wax, take care not to leave the bowl in hot direct sunlight, extreme cold or moisture. Never soak the bowl in water and only clean with a light duster using no chemical products.
