About the Item

Mid-Century French ceramic, shallow bowl on tripod support by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s). The piece may more specifically called: 'The Farm and its Animals' due to its unique decor by Blin's longtime collaborator, Jean Rustin. A very rare ceramic piece whose shape may be completely unique in the Blin repertoire. The trademark misty green patina with black decor of animals and farm implements in their shelters reside over an oatmeal-coloured base. It is without doubt charming with much allure. The interior of the bowl is showing some wear commensurate with age. The exterior is in very good condition. Overall the piece is in fair condition. It is stunning. Signed on the underside: 'J. Blin'. Please enjoy the photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video may be provided. About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920-1995), an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin". Dimensions: H 16.5 cm / 6.5" D 26.5 cm / 10.4".
