Italian Mid-Century Modern green and yellow Sommerso Murano glass bowl attributed to Flavio Poli.
Designed in a diamond shaped 12 faceted sides in hues of yellow and green. Cool deco item that can be used as a serve ware, ashtray or jewelry bowl.
Flavio Poli was born in 1900 in Chioggia, Italy, Poli and received his formal training at the Istituto d'Arte di Venezia. In the late 1930s, he became the artistic director and principal designer of Barovier, Seguso and Ferro, a Venetian glassworks company, which later became Seguso Vetri d’Arte. Poli’s submerged glass pieces, which were made by layering transparent colors and textures, were later awarded the Italian Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass) Industrial Design award. They were also exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Milan Triennale, and the Brussels World’s Fair. Poli died in 1984 in Venice, Italy. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Murano Glass Museum in Venice,.
