About the Item

An incredible hand-blown vintage glass bowl, made and signed by the talented Paul Kedelv for Flygsfors, Sweden. The piece is very biomorphic, with arches with loops in them, and has an amazing almost iridescent blue color and on the outside it is white, all surrounded by clear crystal. This is a very special piece, elegant and very beautiful. It is 22cm (8.66") wide and around 13.5cm (5.31") high and 17cm (6.69") deep in an irregular shape and it is in a very good condition. The price includes free shipping. Flygsfors The glass production started in Flygsfors; Sweden by Otto Hammargren in 1863, then it was used as a hammer forge. With worse economic conditions for the small Småland ironworks, the Flygsfors glass factory was started in 1888. In 1930 after a renewal of the company by Gustav and Oskar Rosander who took over the mill, investments were made and got it back on its feet. During the first 30 years, only window glass was produced, but they later switched to lighting glass and decorative glass. Production steadily improved; in the 1950s, the mill was Europe's largest manufacturer of lighting glass and had approximately 200 employees. Now they also reinvented themselves again and also expanded their production line by introducing design and art glass. Within art glass production, the mill is best known for Paul Kedelv's (1917-1990) shell glass, (coquille glass) the design of these fantastic art objects started in the mid-1950s and continued into the 60s and 70s. The company also employed the super-talented Helena Tynell as a designer and soon they gained national and international fame, the fantastic art glass objects became very desirable, and they are famous for a combination of design and functionality making Flygsfors glass very sought after still today since they have a unique feeling in their timeless vintage design.
