Murano Glass Footed Bowl with Ruffled Rim
About the Item
Elegant hand blown Victorian style crimped and ruffled Murano glass footed candy dish / bowl in blue and garnet, Italy, 19th century.
This exquisite footed glass bowl has a background with shades from white to light blue and a wonderful crimped and ruffled rim in garnet and white. It has an applied blue glass handle in one side.
It wears at the back the label of the cakes shop: Confitería La Palma, Barcelona.
The cakes shop La Palma was one of the most famous cake shops in Barcelona at the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. It was placed in front of the Barcelona's Liceu Opera House. The owner R. Alsina was called "the pastry architect" because he was also an architect. La Palma was purveyor to the Royal Household at that period.
This lovely glass bowl will be a luxury dish to enjoy a sweet cake as we show at the images.
