French Art Deco frosted molded glass fruit bowl by Pierre D'Avesn at DAUM's (Croismare), France, late 1920s. Centerpiece. Diameter : 11"(27.9cm), Height : 3.9"(10cm). Molded glass signature "Lorrain" on the rim (see photo). The production of Daum in Croismare was signed "Lorrain", never "Daum". On the base, some mold hairlines (below outside, in the making, inherent to the technique of this period) and scratches from use (above inside).

Original and iconic molded glass bowl; its shape is simple and bold, cleverly proportioned, the result of intelligent aesthetic reflection; chromium oxide and iron oxide were added during glass fusion to achieve the beautiful emerald green coloration; the bowl, in the Art Deco style, was produced in France between 1930 and 1935 by Pierre D'Avesn, an artist who at that time worked at the Daum glassworks, where he developed an innovative molded glass technique, resulting in pieces of stunning transparency and brilliance like our bowl.
