About the Item

A wonderful Scandinavian Modern Brutalist bowl by the famous artist Ulla Viotti made of white clay. Signed Viotti by the artist. With her rare ability to constantly unlock her ceramic material, Ulla Viotti has come up with a unique and suggestive design language in dialogue with nature, filled with archaeological associations. No material has been this Pioneer foreign. From the book, "Ur jorden – till jorden", 2008 Signum publishing. A summery from Kivik Art Center. Viotti has done it before: belonging to the pioneers when it comes to enriching the art of sculpture with bricks as the material. She was also among the first who courageously crossed all the old borders between art and Craft, design and architecture. The museums and the galleries first, then out into the nature. For the summer of 2019 Ulla Viotti has brought a new expression and a new material to the architectural sculptures at Kivik Art Centre. A harmonious round form and of the material that lies closest to her heart: bricks. She has named her sculpture ”Bibliotheca-archeological library”. A fortress saturated by memory over poetry and the narrative referring not only to guard and defence but also for the lively, struggling literature. Ulla Viotti, Swedish artist living in Brantevik, born 1933. Ulla studied School of Arts i Blackpool in Britain between 1950-1951, and Konstfack in Stockholm 1952-1954, Högre Konstindustriella Skolan, HKS, 1955-56.
