ABOUT AB Lidköpings Porslinsfabrik
ALP Lidköping was established in 1903 in Lidköping, Sweden. The company's name "ALP" is an abbreviation of "AB Lidköpings Porslinsfabrik," which translates to "Lidköping Porcelain Factory, Inc."
ALP Lidköping specialized in the production of porcelain and ceramics, and it gained recognition for the quality and craftsmanship of its products. The company's range of items included dinnerware, decorative pieces, and other household ceramics.
ALP Lidköping collaborated with several prominent Swedish designers and ceramic artists. Gunnar Nylund, in particular, played a significant role in the design of ALP ceramics. His work often featured minimalist and modernist designs that are highly collectible today.
In 1932, a merger took place with the Stockholm-based ceramic manufacturer Rörstrand. In 1936-39, all of Rörstrand's production was gradually moved to Lidköping. ALP still existed for a few years into the 1940s under its own name, parallel to Rörstrand, but after 1943 the business continued under the Rörstrand brand.

- Stoneware bowl by Gunnar Nylund, Rörstrand, Sweden, 1940sBy Gunnar Nylund, RörstrandLocated in Stockholm, SEBeautiful stoneware platter in a leaf shape by Gunnar Nylund. Purplish brown glaze with contrasting bright blue areas. Gunnar Nylund was one of the most influential ceramicists and designers of the Swedish mid-century period. He was Rörstrand’s creative leader from 1931 until 1949 and as such propelled the artistic work at the factory and served as mentor to younger artists, among them Carl-Harry Stålhane and Hertha Bengtsson. Nylund was a dedicated functionalist, who brought ideas of democratizing stoneware and creating beautiful, qualitative and affordable everyday items for the people to Rörstand in the mid-1920s. The factory had at the time lost its former leading market position, but Nylund’s efforts gave it a great reboot. He designed ceramic kitchenware...Category
