Chinese Famille Rose Bowl with Floral Arrangements, c. 1920
Located in Chicago, IL
During the 18th century, Europeans provided an eager market for Chinese export porcelain, especially the colorful and fanciful ware known as “famille rose.” Named for a palette of opaque overglaze enamels that favored roses and pinks, famille rose porcelain ware was crafted with the same technical virtuosity as imperial porcelain but designed for Western tastes. Dated to the early 20th century, this large porcelain bowl is a wonderful example of the intricate painted linework characteristic of famille rose ware. The base of the bowl features an arrangement of precious scholars' objects and auspicious symbols, including a ruyi scepter, a handscroll, and rhinoceros horns...

Art Deco Paul Milet Sevrès France Red and White Glazed Ceramic Bowl
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Particular and interesting ceramic bowl, the raw piece was first modeled with a light and delicate undulation then it was used the ancient technique of glazing immersion in red enamel oxblood color, the phase of glazing requires a lot of skill because it is important that the enamel is deposited evenly on the surface of the object; then a first firing was carried out to definitively fix the color; afterward the artist performed the external part with a particular and secret procedure to obtain the beautiful white glaze resembling a fresh icing; a second firing allowed to obtain an original and unique bowl. On the bottom, there is the mark "PM Sevres" which confirms that this extraordinary creation is the work of the prestigious French ceramist Paul Milet. Paul Milet (France 1870-1931) was a ceramist who was the son of Felix Optat Miletus. He had trained in the Sevres workshop before working in the factory founded by his father, Felix Optat Miletus, a ceramic artist of the second half of the nineteenth century. He earned an honorary diploma at the Arts du Feu exhibition in 1897. In 1900, he received a gold medal for his ceramics that were popular for their pleasing shapes, diverse decorations, cloisonné glazes, and gold sequins, an artist who mastered the glaze palette with skill and rare aesthetic taste. At the Salon Des Artistes Français in 1902, Milet exhibited an Art Nouveau style production of unique pieces: bowls, vases, inkwells, boxes, cup holders, candleholders. In 1890, Paul Millet joined the company Manifacture Nationale dè Sevres, and began to sign his pieces "MP Sèvres...
