About the Item
Two Classic brown and beige-glazed stoneware bowls designed and produced in Sweden, 1940s. Marked as 1st quality.
Gunnar Nylund, born in Paris in 1904 to parents engaged in sculpting and design, embarked on his own career as a designer at an early age. He initially contributed to the renowned Danish brand Bing & Grondahl, where his creative journey began and extended until 1928. Subsequently, in collaboration with Nathalie Krebs, he co-founded the ceramics workshop Saxbo in Denmark.
In 1931, Gunnar Nylund received an invitation to join Rörstrand in Lidköping, Sweden, marking a significant chapter in his career. He served there until 1955, primarily in the role of artistic director. Following his tenure, Carl-Harry Stålhane assumed the position of artistic director for Rörstrand. Even after 1955, Gunnar Nylund continued to freelance for Rörstrand, contributing his artistic talents for several more years.
