Würtz Denmark Huge Unique Ceramic Bowl Anthracite, Gray, Dark Blue Glaze ca 2010

About the Item

Unique huge bowl from the Danish ceramic workshop Würtz Form run by father and son duo Aage and Kasper Würtz. The bowl is covered with an interesting matte glaze in anthracite and a paler gray and contrasted by a glossy dark blue glaze. Würtz Form was established in the beginning of 2000 when Kasper joined his father who has been a leading Danish ceramist back in the 1970s and 80s. Today the studio is called KH Würtz (for Kasper Heie Würtz). The two are considered pioneers in Nordic ceramic design famous for their alchemical access towards glazing. The bowl was most likely made between 2003 and 2010 when the workshop was called "Würtz Form" as the bowl wears an original papersticker with this name. It´s handsigned under bottom: Würtz. The bowl is slightly oval and has a diameter between 35 cm (11.78") and 36 cm (14.17") Condition: Very good used condition with some fine scratches in the glossy blue glaze on bottom of bowl. There is a bit crazing in the blue glaze. It might be from firing as the glaze is quite thick and glass-like.
