About the Item
This exquisite art glass shell or conchiglia by renowned Murano glass artist Alfredo Barbini is a stunning example of Mid-Century Modern craftsmanship, created in Italy during the 1950s. The piece features a delicate interplay of orange and white hues with a mesmerizing transparent layer, enhanced by a signature bullicante technique that creates a subtle, bubbly texture throughout the glass. Adding to its allure, the shell is adorned with fine gold flecks, giving it a radiant, shimmering quality that evokes the beauty of the sea and the glamour of the era.
Barbini’s masterful use of ribbed texture on the surface further elevates this sculptural work, creating a tactile quality that captures light in different ways, showcasing the artistry and technical precision for which Murano glass is so celebrated. The Conchiglia shell shape, iconic in glass art, beautifully echoes the fluidity and elegance of nature, making this a perfect addition to any aquarium, beach, nautical, ocean or coastal-inspired decor, as well as a standout piece in a Mid-Century Modern collection.
