Anglo-Indian Wood and Porcupine Quill Inlaid Vide-Poche. Anglo Indian Ebony Wood and Porcupine quill Inlaid Vide-Poche. A fine circular Anglo-Indian vide-poche, catchall or trinket dish, exquisitely handcrafted from carved wood with bone and porcupine quill inlays. The bowl features a hand-turned dark ebony wood body, adorned with large inlaid porcupine quills around the top and sides. The top showcases a geometric dot pattern made from inlaid bone. Dimensions: 6" diameter x 2" height. Handmade in India Circa 1900s. Porcupine quillwork objects of this quality were produced in limited numbers by Sinhalese artisans for the colonial and export markets during the 19th century. These objects were highly sought after by European travelers and functioned both as symbols of imperial reach and as luxurious receptacles.
