A Kakiemon dish Edo Period ( 17th century) Decorated in typical coloured enamels on underglaze blue, flowers and foliage and birds among rocks Color bursting from it Period; 1660- 1680 Provenance: From the collection of Phillip Allen (1938-2022) Phillip Allen was a much-loved orientalist, he was a council member of the Oriental Ceramic Society, scholarly, generous and fun. Phillip organised an OCS viewing of the Sir Victor Sassoon Chinese ivories collection, which he both catalogued and was instrumental in organising their bequest to the British Museum.
