Flying Bird Pattern Large Drainer by Davenport Porcelain England Circa 1840

About the Item

This large drainer is decorated in the Flying Bird pattern. The pattern features a beautiful long-tailed bird flying over a garden and flowers in rainbow colors. It is painted in a unique combination of purple, pink, yellow, orange, deep cobalt blue, and green. The Flying Bird design has been popular since it was first created by Davenport in England around 1813. The drainer was made by Davenport in England circa 1840. The chinoiserie design of this drainer is exceptional and has an enduring charm. The drainer can be easily mounted on a wall and would make a great addition to any collection. Dimensions:14" x 10" Condition: Excellent Price: $345 History of Davenport Porcelain: In 1785, John Davenport began as a potter working with Thomas Wolfe of Stoke. In 1794, he acquired his own pottery at Longport and began producing cream-colored, blue-printed earthenware. By September 1806, the quality of his porcelain and pottery wares was such that the Prince of Wales, later to become King George IV, ordered Davenport services.
