Jean-Boris Lacroix and Jean Luce French Modernism Silver Plate Vide Poche

About the Item

French Art Deco Modernist designer Jean-Boris Lacroix silver plate and glass by Jean Luce vide poche. Signed with Boris Lacroix stamp. This very rare vide poche with distinctive glass is a true collectible of the French Art Deco period. Maison Desny was producing at the same time. The two designers were of the most important Art Deco French Modernist designers at the time. Born in 1902, Jean-Boris Lacroix began his career in 1924 as artistic director of the Vionnet fashion house. During this period, he also designed furniture and lighting, and objects combining glass and metal. Member of the UAM (Union of Modern Artists), he will contribute to shaping the industrial aesthetic of the post-war period. Keen to take into account the social and technological changes of his time, Lacroix’s aesthetic identity evolved in the 1950s. He began as a precursor of modernist design, with clean geometric lines. He then continued his experimentation with shapes and materials.
