Mid-Century, Ruby Red, Glass Dish attributed to Flygfors, Sweden

About the Item

A bold ruby red mid-century glass dish, crafted in the iconic "Coquille" style by Paul Kedelv for Flygfors. Made from deep, slightly opaque ruby red glass, the dish is encased in a layer of transparent, luminous red glass; akin to the famous Sommerso technique used in Murano. Its small circular base, polished flat, holds thick splaying glass walls sweeping upwards and outwards. The organic shape resembling the impact of a water droplet. The thick red glass rim is gently pinched inwards, creating a meandering, wave-like effect. The dish is in good condition for its age and use, with minor surface scratches inside and some friction marks on the base. Measuring approximately 20 cm in diameter and 11 cm in height, the piece is unsigned.

Murano Red & Gold Leaf Scallop Dish, Attributed to Archimede Seguso, 1950s
By Archimede Seguso
Located in Glasgow, GB
A decorative Murano glass dish, attributed to Murano glass maestro Archimede Seguso. Handcrafted in Italy in the 1950s, this elegant dish takes the form of a scallop shell, with its bottom edges pinched inward to create the distinctive shape. Made from vibrant red Murano glass and seamlessly fused with a sheet of gold leaf—a signature technique in mid-century Murano glass design—this combination results in a rich, organic pattern. During the firing process, the stretching and forming of the molten glass produce a concentric pattern of gold flakes that radiate outward, echoing the delicate textures found in a natural scallop shell. Measuring 11 cm in width and length, with a height of 3.5 cm, this vintage Murano...
