A 1970s Murano glass ashtray, attributed to Flavio Poli for Seguso.
Handcrafted using the sommerso technique, where layers of differently coloured glass are submerged within one another to create a striking effect.
The design features a layer of bright red glass over a subtle sky blue layer, encased in crystal-clear Murano glass. The vibrant play of colour is further accentuated by the geometric shape of the ashtray. Meticulously shaped and polished into a sharp triangular form, with each point channelled to hold a cigarette. The base, with its sharply polished 45-degree angles, resembles a finely cut gemstone. Each sharp and perfectly smooth facet adding depth and sparkle, beautifully showcasing the interplay of red and blue tones within the faceted glass.
