Rare Chinese Porcelain Ming Period Kosometsuke Plate Arhat, ca 1600-1640

About the Item

⁠It's 17th century chinese porcelain, Ming period, made for the Japanese market. This unusual Kosumetsuke plate was used for the tea ceremony. Very nice⁠ The dish is strongly painted with a Luohan in sitting/laying position underneath and on top of a pine tree. He is wearing a long robe which is open and shows his waste. Beautifully painted clouds and the sun are also shown. The backside has a 4 character mark (seems to be chenghua) in a single circle. Additional information: Material: Porcelain & Pottery Region of Origin: China Emperor: Chongzhen (1627-1644), Tianqi (1620-1627) Period: 17th century Ming & Transitional (1368 - 1664) Condition: Faint hairline from rim, seems partially stabilized with soms glue. Also some minimal rimfritting. Dimension: Ø 18.7 x 2.5 H cm
