About the Item

Ceramic bowl, tray, or dish from the Royal Copenhagen "Baca" series features decor designed by Johanne Gerber on the shape designed by Nils Thorsson. The Japanese inspired floral design has slight texture, adding a tactile quality to the piece. Rectangular form with rounded corners softly frames the design in the center of the bowl, done in vibrant matte glaze in blue, brown, and white, with intricate floral motifs. The bowl is stamped on the base with Royal Copenhagen marks, as well as handwritten form and decor numbers and decorator intitials. The marks allow us to date the piece to 1969-1974. Johanne Gerber worked in Royal Copenhagen's faience and stoneware department under Nils Thorsson. She was one of the artists behind some of well-known stoneware and faience series created in 1960s-1970s. The convenient size allows the piece to be used not only as a serving dish, but also as a small catchall tray, a shallow candy dish, or as a part of table decor. The elegant form, high quality craftsmanship, and charming decoration will make the tray a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Japandi, Scandinavian Modern, Transitional, Modern Country, Organic Modern, Collected, or Contemporary.
