Set of Three Flight Barr & Barr Worcester Imari Plates Fence Pattern C-1810
About the Item
This set of three antique English porcelain plates was hand-painted by Barr Flight Barr Worcester circa 1820.
The plates are decorated in the colorful and highly sought-after “Fence Pattern.”
Each plate features a vibrant garden scene with flowering branches, rockwork, and a red pagoda framed behind a gilt fence, with birds in flight above.
The design is filled with rich Imari-style colors—iron red, cobalt blue, and gilt—and is elevated by the especially beautiful additions of pink, soft green, and turquoise.
These delicate highlights provide contrast and luminosity, enhancing the overall visual impact of the composition.
The borders are meticulously painted with alternating bands of floral cartouches on a gilt ground and gilt foliate motifs on a deep red ground.
On the reverse, each plate bears the impressed crowned “BFB” mark for Barr Flight Barr Worcester, which was used during the early 19th century.
