Svend Hammershøi for Kähler, dish with uranium glaze. Glazed in a warm, deep orange uranium glaze with fine depth of colour and subtle variations on the surface. A simple, classic form that highlights the intense play of the glaze. Signed on the underside. Origin: Denmark Period: 1930s Designer: Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948) Material: Earthenware with uranium glaze Condition: In excellent condition Dimensions: D. 16 cm A fine example of Hammershøi’s collaboration with Kähler, where form and glaze come together in perfect harmony. Kähler Keramik was founded in Næstved in 1839 and is renowned for its fine craftsmanship, artistic decorations, and collaborations with many of Denmark’s most celebrated ceramic artists. The workshop played a central role in Danish studio pottery throughout the 20th century. Svend Hammershøi was a Danish painter and ceramic artist who worked for Kähler from the early 20th century. He is known for his distinctive forms, often with strong profiles and striking glazes, and his works are today highly sought-after collector’s items.
