Storyteller: Sarah had been suffering from renal disease for a very long time, and despite her best efforts, no treatment had ever been effective. After her condition deteriorated, her only chance of survival was a kidney transplant. After a long search for a donor, Sarah received the excellent news she had been praying for. It was found that a young woman who had perished in a car accident may be a donor. Sarah was grateful for the donor's kindness, but she also felt guilty for taking advantage of the donor's difficulties. When Sarah started to recover from her transplant, she became more curious about the donor's family. She was interested in the young lady who had given her another opportunity. With the assistance of her doctors, Sarah was able to contact the donor's family and express her gratitude. Yet as time passed, the family learned to love Sarah more and more and welcomed her as a member of the family. She spoke to the donor's family about her life both before and after getting a kidney and expressed her gratitude for their kindness. One day, Sarah received a package from the donor's family. There was a magnificent serving dish made of Opaline glass that was clear, gilded, and milky white. It was shaped like a kidney and had two scalloped shells. The period of French history from 1850 to 1900 was very beautiful. In keeping with the theme of the dinner, they also provided a note that said, "We wanted to offer you something to remember our daughter by. She would have been delighted that this wonderful dish had found its way into your home because she was a fellow antiques fan. We hope it brings you the same degree of joy as it did her." Sarah enjoyed the excellent lunch and the thoughtful gesture. She was eager to share the story behind it at her next dinner party. Sarah experienced an outpouring of love and admiration while she was preparing the supper. She was determined to fully enjoy her newly acquired independence and the second chance at happiness it offered. She told them about the kind donor, the extended family she now considered her own, and the exquisite feast that had brought them all together as guests started to arrive. After many years of keeping the dish dear to her heart, Sarah presented it to her daughter as a memento of the kind gift they had each received. Every time she looked at it, a young woman who had given her a second chance at life and the lovely family who had taken her in came to her. About the storyteller: Consider the storyteller to be a figment of the vendor's imagination. As to how this tale relates to the actual histories of the artifacts on display, that is a mystery. We sincerely hope that you enjoyed the story. Ash With hope and love.

  • Single Goblet Shaped, Gilded and Painted White Opaline Glass Luster, Late 19th C
    Located in Queens Village, NY
This luster takes the form of a goblet, and it is covered in stunning Islamic and Arabic motifs. There's a good chance that the product was made with the Turkish market in mind. It was created in France between the years 1850 and 1920, but the exact year is unknown. This particular luster has not even the slightest chip or crack in it. Because the artwork is not burned into the glass and some of it has been scratched out through the years, we are unable to come to a consensus regarding how old this item is. The gold and the paintings have both lost some of their color and sparkle as a result of the passage of time. We are selling this beautiful luster on different platforms; please check availability before purchasing. More photos may be provided if necessary. Storyteller: Amina loved browsing through antique shops, always on the lookout for unique treasures to add to her collection. One day, she came across a stunning luster goblet with intricate Arabic designs covering it. Amina was immediately drawn to its beauty and knew she had to have it. As she examined the goblet, she noticed that it was in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks, and the designs seemed to be etched into the glass. She wondered about its age, and after some research, she discovered that it was made in France between 1850 and 1920, most likely for the Turkish market. However, the exact year of its creation remained a mystery. Excited to show off her new find, Amina invited her friends over for a small gathering. As they admired the goblet's unique decorations and shimmering gold, Amina noticed her friend Ali studying it intently. When she asked if everything was alright, Ali shared a memory from his childhood: his grandfather's ancient Arabic...
