Whitefriars Geoffrey Baxter Large Blue Glass Dish, Controlled Bubbles, 1960s

About the Item

A large blue glass dish by the esteemed English glassmakers Whitefriars, designed by the renowned glass artist Geoffrey Baxter in the 1950s. The dish features luminous cyan blue glass, punctuated with an array of bubbles arranged in concentric circles—a skilled technique known as controlled bubbles, or bullicante. This method became a hallmark of Whitefriars' mid-century glass production. This is a substantial piece, with a thick circular wall measuring 12" (30 cm) in diameter and a shallow height of 2.3" (6 cm). This particular size is notably rare, making it a distinctive addition to any collection. It is well-suited for display on a coffee table or as a vide-poche to hold small items and trinkets. The blue glass dish is in good condition for its age and use. There are some scratches on the inside base, along with general age-related wear, but no chips are present
