About the Item

Highly detailed quadruple plated silver cigar humidor, with repoussé floral motif. Rectangular heavy box with two figural hunting dogs in bronze on the hinged lid. Inside two compartments separated by a small middle compartment. Made by Wilcox Silver Plate Company Meriden Connecticut. It is stamped on bottom with all this information along with the numbers: 7700 1/2. The Wilcox Silver Plate Co. was formed in Meriden, Connecticut. From 1865 to 1867, it was known as the Wilcox Brittania Co. In 1898, the company was acquired by the International Silver Company. The markers mark 'Wilcox Silver plate Co' on the bottom places this box in the 1867-1898 period Unfortunately the key is missing.
