About the Item
Curious and rare music box forming a cellar for liquors and cigars in the form of a sublime Savoyard chalet in lime and resin.
The latter is situated on a terrace with a character and includes a drinking trough and a niche.
The stable and a barn on either side, the openwork base containing a music box.
The façade and the hinged roof, which can be lifted up, reveal the carafe and glass holder.
The barn tilts to the right to reveal the cigar cellar.
Magnificent Savoyard work
Period : 19th century
Dimensions : Height : 56cm x width : 77cm x depth : 39cm.
Savoy naturally adopted´ woodcarving as an artistic form that corresponds perfectly to the local geographical data.
Rural art, it is therefore in the countryside that we must look for the most characteristic forms.
Pure art? One can doubt it, Savoie, and this is its interest, was a privileged place of convergence of Italian, Comtois and French artistic influences which, all, deeply impregnated the inhabitants of this beautiful region and which constitute today the richest heritage of popular art with curious and rare pieces.
