About the Item
Yale is one of the oldest international brands in the world and the best-known name in the lock industry. Linus Yale invented the modern pin-tumbler lock in Newport, New York in 1848. In 1868 the Yale & Towne Manufacturing Co. was founded by Linus Yale Jr. and Henry R. Towne, with 35 employees. In the early 20th century, the company expanded worldwide and employed more than 12,000 people.
