About the Item
Circa 1901, Erhard & Söhne, Germany, a Jugendstil/Art Nouveau brass and rosewood string box, decorated in the round with children playing tug-of-war. The lid is beautifully decorated in brass with leaf and heart motifs. The interior is also polished brass. A lovely pair side-mounted scissors ensures this is not only a beautiful and charming item but also a practical one.
Erhard & Söhne was founded in 1844 by Gottlieb Erhard and his two sons in Schwäbisch Gmünd, about 30 miles east of Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The company was highly regarded for innovative and quality workmanship. They made a variety of products including haberdashery, silver and gold plated brass and bronze, dollshouse accessories and toys and obtained a world patent for the manufacture of brass inlay in 1904.

Three Modern Organic Form Wood Studio Jewelry Boxes With Royal Blue Interiors

21st c., three artisan crafted small organic form jewelry boxes. One is a Rewarewa wood box with pine handle. The second is in Elm with am Elm handle. The smaller box is made of Australian Red Cedar with Kauri drawer front, unmarked. The two larger boxes are stamped on the underside with maker's mark "G" with image of a bee. All three boxes have compartments lined in a royal blue felt.
