19th-century English Majolica Ducklings on a Nest Box  England, circa 1880 Attributed to Joseph Holdcroft This charming 19th-century English Majolica "Ducklings on Nest" box, attributed to Joseph Holdcroft and dating to circa 1880, is a delightful example of Victorian Majolica. Made in two pieces, the box measures 9.5 inches wide, 6.5 inches deep, and 7 inches high. The lift top is realistically modeled and painted in neutral earth tones, featuring three adorable hatchling chicks with eggshells, capturing a heartwarming moment of nature. The base is modeled to resemble a woven naturalistic nest, adding to its rustic charm. Though unmarked, the piece exhibits the quality and detail characteristic of Holdcroft's work.
