About the Item
Unusual 19th century letter box with whimsical ink decoration inside and out, signed and dated 1890. With wonderfully naive ink decoration, including a Chimera being ridden by a sprite blowing an elaborate horn. Also a lovely small Dutch style landscape and seascape inside. Signed with the monogram LH and dated 1829-1890. Also signed on the bottom in pencil with monogram and name that I can't make out. Two slots on top for letters and a small working lock and key.
A wonderful unique piece of Victoriana with personalized decoration.
