19th Century French Repousse Brass Clad Coal Bin on Casters with Hunt Motifs

About the Item

Crafted in France, circa 1870, the antique brass coffer is mounted on a wooden frame, and stands on caster wheels. The slant top opens up with stopping chain revealing inside storage. The large coal bin is decorated with repousse hunting motifs on the sides, a Musketeer figure in uniform on the front door and torch decor with laurel wreath underneath. The decorative trunk is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns the original rich patinated gilt finish. The versatile box could be used for wood burning near a fireplace, or as storage facility for children toys. Small dent on the face. Measures: 24" W x 16" D x 21" H.
