About the Item

This is a stunning antique mid-Victorian Gothic Revival ebonized casket of domed form with elaborate decorative gilt brass mounts with attractive inset malachite roundels. The domed lid reveals a silk and paper lined divided interior which will accommodate your letters and notes. The interior with inset gilt brass plaque engraved with the name of the renowned maker 'T. Russell Brighton' . Provenance: The Dr. Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes This is a highly decorative piece which will make a statement once placed on any period desk. Condition: In excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation. Dimensions in cm: Height 15 x width 20 x depth 10 Dimensions in inches: Height 6 inches x width 8 inches x depth 4 inches Malachite is an opaque, green banded mineral. It is believed to be a strong protector of children. It protects the wearer from accidents and protects travellers.
