About the Item

This is a luxury Art Deco wood and sterling silver lidded box, handcrafted by silversmith Adriana Binazzi. The rare piece was crafted in Firenze, Italy, circa 1930. The rectangular shape boasts a refined composition, featuring a Macassar wood body adorned with a sterling silver handle and a large decorative sterling stripe on the lid, accented with a textured pattern. Perfect for a vanity or dresser, this box will add a touch of elegance to any sophisticated interior. The box is hallmarked "10 FI" (Adriana Binazzi) and "800." Dimensions: 7.07 in wide (18 cm) by 3.57 in deep (9 cm) by 2 in high (5 cm). Note: Adriana Binazzi was a silversmith company in Firenze, Italy. The company was in business from 1935 to 1971. Note: 800 silver refers to a silver alloy that is 80% pure. Pure silver is very soft and easily damaged; therefore, for practical purposes, silver is often mixed (alloyed) with other metals to strengthen it. 800 silver is one of many diverse silver alloys commonly used in the 20th Century. Today, 800 silver is not a frequently used silver standard. Historically, it was commonplace in Germany, Italy, and the United States.
