About the Item

Albert Chezal designed this stunning Art Nouveau, distinctly illustrated, dinanderie-pewter-covered box, handcrafted in France's Etains d'Art workshop around 1910. The large, hand-wrought, round shape features a typical Art Nouveau floral embossed design with lilac flowers. The handwritten, engraved signature is incorporated into the design. There is also a stamping on the underside reading "Etains d'Art" (Artistic Pewter) with the monogram CA. Dimensions: 6.32 in diameter (16 cm) by 2.75 in high (7 cm). Note: Albert Chezal was a French artist from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. He is primarily known for his pewter creations, which were published by the Etains d'Art workshop. Chezal also collaborated with Roger Guerin (1896 - 1954) on pewter decorations for earthenware ceramic vases and decorative pieces.
