Anglo-Indian Art Deco Silver Presentation Casket

About the Item

This Anglo-Indian silver casket is inscribed on a central panel to the front with the following: 'Presented to / Mr. A. L. Guildford, B.Sc. M.I.E.E. / By / The Officers and Staff of / The Bombay Electrical Supply and Transport / Undertaking as a Memento / On his Retirement / 22nd April 1949'. The casket thus represents a piece of Indian—and Anglo-Indian—interest. Moreover, its Art Deco influenced design grants the piece an additional importance. The silver casket is rectangular in form with canted corners decorated with Art Deco motifs. The piece is adorned throughout with foliate moulding. Most interestingly, at front and back, figurative panels depict aspects of city life: buildings, trams, and buses. The hinged lid opens to reveal a velvet lined interior.

Fabergé Style Bejewelled and Enamelled Gold Egg by Asprey
By Garrard & Co. Ltd., Asprey International Limited
Located in London, GB
This exceptional, 18 carat gold Easter egg was crafted by the famous London-based royal jewellers, Asprey & Co. The piece was then retailed by Garrard & Co, who once worked in collaboration with Asprey, producing luxury jewellery and silver for an elite clientele. The egg has been crafted from gold filigree — that is, gold wires interwoven to make a delicate lace-like pattern. The gold is arranged to form the image of a peacock, with a magnificent fanned train, composed of red, dark blue and green coloured plique-à-jour enamel. The light blue body of the peacock, and its long swirling light and dark blue tail feathers, have been crafted from intricate guilloché enamel, which is often found on Fabergé style eggs...
