Antique Leather & Decorative Gilt Metal Table Top Travelling Chest Bramah Lock
About the Item
A lovely antique English leather desk top travelling chest with decorative gilt metal mounts to both the exterior and the interior. Bramah lock and key. Circa 1880.
Delivery included to the UK.
The interior has leather front drawers embossed in gilt for Silver, Gold and Notes. Each having decorative gilt metal handles. The top two drawers are lined in purple velvet, along with purple velvet interior doors.
The exterior leather shows wear and imperfections, this also appears to have had colour added and possibly some restoration. The purple velvet interior doors do show signs of use, and there is a knock to the front left gilt metal foot to note.
The door snaps shut to close. The box has the original Bramah key, which works the lock. This does need a few turns to lock properly, but opens well. The base is also in leather.
