Superb Art Nouveau Trinket Box - marked "JB Signifies the Best"
16 x 8 x. 10.5cms
Made of bronzed regule (spelter), this trinket box is in exceptional condition with almost all of the original bronzed finish. The hinges are in fully working order and the purple striped silk lining in tact along with the gold braided edging. The purple lining showing signs of staining but is otherwise in good condition.
The mark "J.B. Signifies the Best" is found on the bottom of the trinket box and is the trademark used by the Oneida Silver Company. Oneida was renowned and highly respected American company known for its high-quality products, and the "J.B." mark specifically indicated their best or highest-quality items. Oneida's silverware and decorative items are highly sought after by collectors due to their craftsmanship and historical significance.
