Arts and Crafts Style Copper Box with Acid Etched Leaf Motifs on Brass Claw Feet

About the Item

Aesthetically beautiful and highly practical copper metal box. This 1930s thick copper box clearly is the work of a true artisan of that era. To us, it came to no surprise that it is marked at the bottom. Imprinted in the patinated copper it reads: B.HARINGA IJLST and HANDWERK. B.HARINGA (1914-1958) was one of the last true artisan metal workers in the Netherlands and some of his pieces can be found in Dutch museums. The materials and time consuming techniques that he applied to hand-craft this excellent condition box not only made it very beautiful they also guaranteed the longevity of this unique box. The stunning patina (the enriched color caused by years of usage and natural oxidation) of the etched and hand-engraved decorations have made this remarkable box even more desirable. Thanks to its practical size it can be displayed in many places and used for all kinds of purposes. The perfect, brass claw feet literally lift this Arts and Crafts box to another level and the cast bronze finial atop is like the icing on the cake. This handcrafted beauty also makes a great gift for a loved one and if you like this Arts and Crafts gem as much as we do then you will love our price. Especially when taken into account that perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door (within 4 workdays) are complimentary. Maximum width x depth x height when closed: 9.05 x 5.9 x 3.93 inches. Maximum width x depth x height of the inside: 8.07 x 4.72 x 1.6 inches.
