About the Item
Circa 1860 Chinese Export Porcelain Rose Medallion Desk Box. A rarely found form. Divided interior. Lid with traditional juxtaposition of figural & floral reserves. The whole with extravagant gilt background and finely decorated with floral & butterfly detail; the base with fabulous orange, yellow & blue bats flanking reserves of birds on floral branches. Minor rubbing of decoration, particularly at corner edges.
