About

A mobile checkers game board and carrying case in beechwood, France, circa 1920. This hinged beechwood box opens out flat to become an elevated game table for checkers. The edges and sides are heavily carved in multiple motifs, with foliate details around the board and stylized decoration on the sides. Charming circular embellishments are carved into the handle. A tiny, rustic metal wire closure sits just under the handle. The inside is a clean, undivided box, suitable for carrying many game pieces, pen and paper for score keeping and the like.
