Czechoslovakia Art Deco Jeweled dresser box. marbled glass with gilt decoration

About the Item

The variety of glass made in Czechoslovakia in the Art Deco period is astounding. And, some of the most beautiful exports were the dresser boxes with jeweled lids, many clearly stamped Czechoslovakia. Oft attributed to Loetz, these style is more closely aligned with work coming out of Kralik, albeit there were many decorating shops and export companies buying glass and decorating or embellishing it for export, which is likely the case with this example. The jeweled lid and the gilt decoration are remarkably in fantastic condition. There are minor bubbles and blemishes to the glass and the inside edge of the glass under the lid has a very tiny fleabite chip. I have to pick it up and examine it carefully to find it and it certainly does not effect the function, nor aesthetic. The blue glass finial has internal craqalure which refracts light beautifully. This was sourced from a glass scholars collection and I haven't found a more beautiful example of the form and type offered online in years.
